Thursday January 1 , 2026

Well, can you believe it, 2025 just flew on by and we are already into 2026! With the New Year we are reminded that spring will be upon us in a few short months and then it’s time to start spring cleaning. In the meantime, though, I like to make sure that all my ducks are in a row, which means that on January 1 st , today, I remove all clothing items that are still hanging backwards from last year, in all closets. Next, I turn all my remaining hanging clothes so that they are hanging backwards and start the process over again. These clothes will be rehung normally as they are worn throughout the year. Note: items that have not been worn during the past year are donated or discarded, unless they are special wear like a tuxedo, wedding attire, an extra warm winter coat or something I keep on hand for say a costume party, (so maybe western gear or something from the 80’s) I also keep tank tops that I can wear under sheer tops, even if I don’t have any such tops at the time.

Okay then, Happy New Year everyone and please join me in getting set for 2026! While you’re busy organizing and have turned all those hangers backwards, you might want to organize and put away all your Christmas decorations. There’s no time like the present!

** On a special note, hard plastic cases specifically designed for wreaths are now available. I got mine at Canadian Tire. Plastic bins with separtors are now available for Christmas tree balls, but are about $25 each so, I don’t know about you but I would need at least two to fit all my balls in bins. I really like the one’s for wreaths as without them wreaths have a tendency to get squished and misshapen. I would likely invest in the Christmas tree ball containers, but I don’t have any glass tree ornaments so didn’t bother with the tailor-made cases for the tree balls. I just put them back into the container they came in and put that container in my larger decoration bin. In addition to the wreath cases, I do use hard plastic forms made for wrapping Christmas lights. I like them as the bulbs don’t get broken or dislodged as easily and the strings don’t get tangled. Again, these are my preferences. You do you. I know the wreath cases aren’t cheap, but hopefully you only need one or two of them. The ball cases, likewise aren’t cheap, also part of the reason I choose to forego them, as to fit all my tree balls into cases, I would have had to buy two cases and at $25 each I don’t need them, just like them. It’s nice to have everything perfect, but not at the expense of other essentials, like food.

Again everyone, Happy New Year,

Jandy
