When I decided to write a spring cleaning manual, I wanted it to be exhaustive so let’s just say that it became VERY detailed. In the process, however, I did recognize that not everyone wants or needs such an exhaustive guide, which then led to my creating a simplified itemized version. Of course where there’s one extreme there is also the other, so here’s the really, really, short version…
Step 1
Clean Your House
Step 2
Keep It That Way

If only it were really that easy!
The Detailed Room-by-Room Spring-Cleaning Manual is a 90 page downloadable PDF document, that includes instructions on how to prepare for spring cleaning (like having your chimney swept first), a list of suggested cleaning supplies (my preference, not necessarily your own), step-by-step cleaning instructions (for different items like the oven door), a place to note anything needing further attention, organizational tips and checklists for those who want to make sure they’re not missing a thing. All of this is made to be easily compiled into a two inch 3-ring binder, with the downloaded PDF document being slipped into page protectors which transform them into dry-erase lists and checklists you can use over and over again. This detailed version is an individual, room-by-room, item-by-item checklist (skip the checklists for rooms or items you don’t have) in addition you’ll find a regular house cleaning schedule, designed so that you’ll never have to spring-clean your house again. Yes, you read that right! Never “spring-clean” again because your spring-cleaning chores are scheduled throughout the year into your regular house cleaning routine. As an additional bonus, you will also receive a household maintenance schedule (these are not necessarily cleaning items).
The itemized version has an itemized checklist for each “type” of item found in the different rooms of the house, such as ceilings, windows, furniture, cupboards, appliances. In this version, you would go through cleaning all the walls in the house, not just one room’s walls.
