Dawn Platinum Powerwash Recipes

Laundry Soap

Equipment:

1 Sturdy Gallon Size Container

Ingredients:

  • 1/3 Cup Washing Soda
  • 1/4 Cup Borax
  • 2 Tbsp Dawn Dish Soap
  • 1 Gallon Water

Directions:

  1. Fill the container about 1/4 full with the hottest water from your faucet.
  2. Add washing soda and borax to the hot water.
  3. Shake or swirl gently to dissolve the powders.
  4. Fill the rest of the container with lukewarm water.
  5. Add 2 Tbsp Dawn dish soap, seal, and shake gently to mix.

To Use:

  • Regular load: 1/2 cup
  • Large load: 3/4 cup
  • HE machines: 1/4 cup

Note:

Avoid flimsy containers like milk jugs. Use a sturdy gallon-size pitcher, such as Rubbermaid.

Dishwasher Detergent Pods

Ingredients:

  • Washing Soda
  • Borax
  • Citric Acid
  • Dawn Platinum Powerwash Dish Soap
  • Baking Soda

Optional:

Some recipes may include essential oils for scent, such as lemon or orange.

Shower Door Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • Blue Dawn Platinum Dishwashing Liquid
  • 70% isopropyl (rubbing) alcohol
  • Distilled water
  • A clean, empty Dawn Powerwash spray bottle OR any 16 oz. or larger spray bottle
  • Measuring spoon

Directions:

  1. Pour 1 3/4 cups distilled water into the clean, empty spray bottle.
  2. Add 4 tablespoons (1/4 cup) Dawn Platinum Dishwashing Liquid.
  3. Add 1 1/2 tablespoons 70% isopropyl alcohol.
  4. Apply spray top.
  5. Shake gently to combine ingredients.
  6. Allow to sit for a few hours to let everything meld.

Variations:

  1. Alternative scent: Substitute Blue Dawn Ultra Original for Blue Dawn Platinum.
  2. More powerful: Use 91% isopropyl alcohol instead of 70%.
  3. Most powerful: Substitute 4 tablespoons denatured alcohol for isopropyl alcohol.

Note:
When using denatured alcohol, handle carefully and wear gloves.

Toilet Bowl Cleaner

Ingredients:

  • Dawn dish soap
  • White vinegar
  • Epsom salts

Directions:

  1. Combine 3 cups of white vinegar, 2 tablespoons of liquid dish soap, and 1 cup of Epsom salts in a large jar with a lid.
  2. Shake thoroughly to dissolve the Epsom salts.
  3. Pour 1/3 of the solution into the toilet bowl and let it soak for about 30 minutes.
  4. Use a toilet brush to clean any stubborn stains.
  5. Flush to rinse.

All-Purpose Spray

Ingredients:

  • Liquid dish soap
  • Water
  • White vinegar or rubbing alcohol (optional)
  • Lemon essential oil (optional)

Directions:

  1. Add 1 tablespoon of dish soap to a continuous spray bottle or an empty Dawn Powerwash bottle.
  2. Fill the remainder of the bottle with water.
  3. Add a splash of distilled white vinegar or rubbing alcohol for hard water, or a few drops of lemon essential oil for scent (optional).
  4. Replace the spray top and shake gently to mix.

Note:
If using a standard spray bottle, foam may clog the nozzle.
