Silverware Cleaning with Baking Soda & Foil

Materials Needed:

  • Glass baking dish or pot
  • Tin foil
  • Baking soda (½ cup for small pan; up to 1 cup for large pot)
  • Boiling water
  • Tongs or gloves

Instructions:

  1. Line your dish or pot with aluminum foil.
  2. Pour in boiling water.
  3. Add baking soda.
  4. Place silver items in the mixture — ensure they touch the foil.
  5. Leave for 1–5 minutes, or until tarnish clears.
  6. Remove with tongs or gloves.
  7. Buff with microfibre cloth to remove any water spots

Tip: You can also use a wadded ball of foil instead of lining the pot.
